How should I handle health insurance after graduation?

If you were insured through your school, the coverage only lasts until the month of your graduation. Starting from the following month, you will no longer have health insurance.

You must enroll in health insurance at the National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) or your local district office. The monthly premium is NT$826.

If you do not enroll, once you find a job and your employer starts your insurance, the National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) will detect any unpaid premiums and issue a payment notice. You will still need to pay the missing amount.

If you visit a doctor while uninsured, you must pay the full medical fee upfront. After settling your National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) payments, you can return to the hospital/clinic with your receipt to apply for a refund.
