Introduction

New students who are coming to Taiwan for the first time cannot join Taiwan’s National Health Insurance until the 7th month of their arrival. If newly arrived students wish to have health insurance for the first six months of their stay in Taiwan, they have the option of joining Cathay Life Medical Insurance. The Cathay Life Medical Insurance fee is a one-time payment.

How to make a claim

In order to facilitate your claim after you have purchased the International Students Group Medical Insurance, please observe the following when seeking medical treatment during coverage period :

1. The insurance covers medical treatment provided by the hospitals specified by the insurance company ONLY. *Please make sure that you go to one of the National Health Insurance covered hospitals or clinics if you are seeking medical treatment.
    
2. After paying for the treatment, be sure to get: a receipt and the treatment details with the doctor’s signature. Tell the doctor that you need the documents to file for an insurance claim.
3. Fill out the *insurance claim form and bring it together with the required documents to the Office of Admissions &International Cooperation and the staff will assist you to make your claim. *Bring the claim form to the OIA and ask the staff to help you fill it out if you cannot read Chinese. 4. Required documents that you need to bring to the Office of Admissions &International Cooperation after receiving treatment are :
   1. The original receipts of payment
   2. Treatment details with the doctor’s signature
   3. The claim form with the doctor’s signature
   4. 1 copy of your deposit book’s cover
